Tootsie 🖤
The Trusting One · One of the Orchard Crew
Every autumn, on the first cold night after the last apples are picked, a little crew of kitties wanders out from between the orchard rows. Nobody knows exactly where they come from. They just appear in the fallen leaves, six of them, warm and sleepy, waiting for someone to carry them home.
Tootsie was the second one through the gate, right on Widget's heels, because that's where Tootsie always is. She trusts everyone, maybe a little too much. When Widget climbed into the cider barrel, Tootsie climbed in after him. When he scaled the apple ladder, she was one rung behind. And once, she curled up in a basket that was very much not hers and rode halfway to market before anyone noticed.
She never minded the trouble. Tootsie doesn't care where she's going, only that she isn't going alone. The candy corn on her belly is a little sweet and a little silly, just like her. Now that Widget has found his person, Tootsie is ready to follow someone new, and once she picks you, she'll follow you everywhere.
Tootsie is for anyone who loves with their whole heart and follows it, even when it leads somewhere silly.
