Saffron 🌼
The Watcher · One of the Orchard Crew
Every autumn, on the first cold night after the last apples are picked, a little crew of kitties wanders out from between the orchard rows. Nobody knows exactly where they come from. They just appear in the fallen leaves, six of them, warm and sleepy, waiting for someone to carry them home.
Where Cider goes, Saffron follows. Partly because she's curious too, and partly because somebody has to make sure he finds his way back. She keeps one eye on the adventure and one eye on the path home, quietly marking the way: left at the crooked tree, past the foxgloves, under the gap in the fence.
Saffron is brave, but she's sensible about it. She's the one who notices when the sun is getting low, when the wind turns cold, or when someone has wandered too far. She never says "I told you so." She just shows up, nudges everyone in the right direction, and makes sure every last one of them gets home safe.
Saffron is for the protectors and the steady friends who always make sure everyone gets home safe.
